2017 Employee Contributions
Bi-weekly deductions from your paycheck (employee contributions) for medical coverage (which includes coverage for prescription drugs) in 2017 will increase. The average increase for full-time employees who elect single coverage will be less than $3.00 per pay period; the average increase for those who elect family coverage will be approximately $8.00 per pay period. Biweekly payroll deductions for dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability and legal services will not increase for 2017.
Medical Plan Benefits
Infertility Coverage: Effective January 1, 2017, coverage for medical and prescription drug services for infertility treatment will be added. There is a $5,000 lifetime limit for this benefit.
Gender Dysphoria Coverage: To care for individuals with gender identity concerns, BJC will offer benefits for gender dysphoria psychotherapy and hormone replacement therapy, beginning January 1, 2017.
Drug Formulary: Every year, Express Scripts (ESI), BJC’s Prescription Drug Plan administrator, completes periodic therapeutic reviews of its drug formulary list to ensure clinically sound, cost effective drugs are available to you. You should check to see if changes to the formulary will impact you. See “Prescription Drug List-2017 Condensed,” under Rx Resources on the BJC Total Rewards website for details.
Coupons: Reminder, when using a manufacturer coupon for your prescription, only the amount you actually pay for the prescription will be applied to your annual out-of-pocket maximum.
Effective January 1, 2017, under the Low option, the coverage level for preventive care will increase from 80 percent to 100 percent (no deductible) when services are received from Premier Network providers.
New Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Administrator
Starting January 1, 2017, Discovery Benefits® will be BJC’s new FSA administrator. Discovery is known for its outstanding customer service team, which will respond to any and all FSA-related questions from members and non-members alike. This change will result in enhanced FSA benefits and services for BJC employees, making enrollment in an FSA account even more enticing for 2017.
Increase Supplemental Life without EOI: Employees who newly elect or choose to increase their current supplemental life coverage by one times their annual base salary, will have their election automatically approved without having to complete Evidence of Insurability (EOI) requirements. All first-time elections or increases from current coverage that exceed one times annual base salary will still require EOI. Life Insurance Stillbirth Coverage: Effective January 1, 2017, dependent life insurance now includes a stillbirth benefit of $2,500 to provide financial support to families who experience a stillbirth.
Wellness and Condition Management
Livongo for Diabetes Program: Beginning January 1, 2017, Livongo’s digital diabetes management program will be available to eligible BJC Medical Plan members. Earn a Wellness Credit for 2017: BJC Medical Plan members and/or their covered spouses can each earn a $175 wellness credit on the BJC employee’s first paycheck in December 2017 by completing the Cigna Health Risk Assessment (HRA), in addition to completing one or more approved wellness credit options. There are an expanded number of choices to earn the wellness credit for 2017. Employees can also earn an additional $25 bonus credit for 2017.
