Overview

Total Rewards is the package offered to us as BJC team members. It is designed to add value and to meet our needs at work and in life.  It covers five distinct areas:  Benefits, Career, Compensation, Recognition and Work-Life.rescription drug benefits are included in the medical option that you elect. Present your Cigna medical ID when purchasing medications. Key features include:

Benefits: Includes health and welfare benefits (such as medical, dental, prescription drug, vision), retirement plans (pension*, 401k/403b) and financial income offerings (like short- and long-term disability and life insurance). *Pension is not offered at all BJC hospitals.

Career: Includes career development and advancement, learning, training and educational opportunities.

Compensation: Includes salary (base pay, over time, variable), annual salary increases and more.

Recognition: Includes local and system-wide reward and recognition programs, such as the quarterly Employees Exceeding Expectations (EEE) award and milestone service anniversary celebrations.

Work-Life: Includes paid time off (PTO), the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), financial education sessions, retirement planning meetings, employee discounts, wellness offerings and more.

The majority of prescriptions filled under the plan are non-specialty drugs. Specialty drugs are prescription medications that require special handling, administration or monitoring. These drugs are used to treat complex, chronic and often costly conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis C, and hemophilia. Plan members will be notified if a medication is considered a specialty medication and given instructions on where to have it filled.

BJC Employee Pharmacy uses the latest in credit card processing protection (called P2PE). The moment the card number is entered the first time into our pharmacy system, the card number is encrypted (secretly coded) and sent to the processor where it is decrypted and approves the transaction. With this technology, our pharmacy system has absolutely no credit card data to be stolen (hacked). This encrypted "tokenized" number remains for future use.
