Highlights & Changes for 2019

BJC Medical Plan

Sleep Therapy: Starting January 1, 2019, BJC will introduce a new, innovative offering to BJC Medical Plan participants. Through Sleepio, this offering will provide a six-week, sleep-improvement program tailored to an individual’s unique sleep needs. The program takes place virtually via a smart phone, PC or tablet, and is free to covered plan members. Clinical research shows that sleep habits can seriously impact a person’s health. By leveraging technology and clinical research, Sleepio has designed techniques to address sleep challenges. Additional information will be provided to eligible BJC Medical Plan members in the coming months, including how to enroll in the program.

Omada: The Omada health management program is expanding to include support to BJC Medical Plan members with type 2 diabetes, in addition to those who are pre-diabetic. Omada is an online program clinically designed to help participants reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and now can provide a proactive coaching program to type 2 diabetics who do not use insulin. Omada guides participants through a 16-week core curriculum with personalized health coaching, a small support group, digital tracking tools and more.

Medication Management: Medical plan participants may be contacted to participate in a voluntary medication management program designed to save them money. The program will provide education on the proper use of medications, as well as assess their effectiveness, side effects and possible alternative treatments for program participants. More information to come.
