BJC Medical Plan
New! Telehealth Coverage: Starting January 1, 2018, BJC Medical Plan members will be able to access Cigna’s Telehealth Connection. For just a $25 copay, the Connection puts you and your family in touch with doctors via phone or video chat on a 24/7/365 basis (versus going to your physician’s office or urgent care provider). Medical plan participants will also have access via phone or video chat to Cigna Behavioral Health providers for covered services related to mental health and substance abuse for a $25 copay. Details to come.
New! Autism Therapy: Short-term rehabilitation services received on an outpatient basis for physical, aquatic, occupational and speech therapies for autism diagnosis (includes coverage for ABA therapy) will be covered under the BJC Medical Plan in 2018.
New! Care Management Program: Voluntary care management offering that will provide support services designed to improve the health outcomes for participants diagnosed with diabetes, heart failure, COPD or asthma.
Gender Dysphoria Surgical Coverage Enhancement: The BJC Medical Plan will cover gender reassignment surgery and related services. This is in addition to current coverage for gender dysphoria.
Infertility Coverage Enhancement: BJC Medical Plan participants’ lifetime limit in coverage for medical and prescription drug services for infertility treatment will increase from $5,000 to $10,000 ($7,500 for medical and $2,500 for prescription drugs).
Prescription Drug Network Change: For 2018, Express Scripts’ Participating Retail Pharmacies will be exclusively Walgreens and its affiliated pharmacies. Walgreens operates 8,175 drugstores with a presence in all 50 states. No changes will be made to BJC pharmacies, including the BJC Employee Pharmacy (mail order) for 2018..
Vision Service Plan (VSP)
Vision Plan Enhancements: Employee contributions for VSP Vision Plan coverage will increase for 2018. This is accompanied by an expanded coverage allowance from $130 to $200 for contact lenses and frames. In addition, covered dependents up to age 18 will have the option to receive two WellVision Exams each year (instead of one per year for adults), and frame coverage once every calendar year (instead of once every other calendar year)..
Long-Term Disability (LTD) Change: Full-time and part-time employees will see a decrease in 2018 contributions for optional LTD insurance (excluding GME Resident House Staff). This is the result of BJC changing to Liberty Mutual as our new insurance carrier, effective January 1, 2018. Liberty will also manage BJC’s short-term and long-term disability plans, and other leave management programs.
New! Legal Services: For 2018, BJC is changing its legal services benefit to the Nationwide LegalGUARD Plan, administered by LegalEASE. With this change, two contribution tiers will be offered instead of one: “Employee Only” and “Employee + Family.” If you are currently a legal services participant, you must have actively enrolled during annual benefits enrollment if you want legal services in 2018.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
Health Care FSA Change: At the end of calendar year 2017, FSA participants will be able to carry over health care account balances of $50 to $500 into the new year, provided they enroll in a health care FSA for 2018.
Dependent Day Care FSA Change: For 2018, FSA dependent day care account participants who terminate their employment with BJC, will have 90 days to use the balance of their account. In 2017, participants have the remainder of the calendar year to use the balance in their dependent day care FSA. Participants still have until March 31 of the following year to submit claims for reimbursement.
Wellness Incentive: BJC is changing the name “Wellness Credit” to “Annual Wellness Incentive”. BJC Medical Plan members and their covered spouses can each earn a $175 wellness incentive for 2018 by completing the Cigna Health Risk Assessment (HRA) between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018, in addition to completing an approved wellness option between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. Employees can also earn an additional $25 incentive for 2018.
New! Survivor Health Care Continuation Benefit: Following the death of a BJC employee, the employee’s covered family members will be offered health care continuation coverage (COBRA) for a two month period with no charge (applicable copayments, deductibles and coinsurance will apply if services are rendered). Family members must be covered on the BJC medical, dental or vision plan at the time of the employee’s death.
